Service Requested Quality Value Saved My husband and I hired AdVal to reface our kitchen cabinets and drawers. We wanted white oak to replace all the cherry wood that we had installed 23 years ago. One of the owners, Andy, came out and gave a great "pitch" about his company and after meeting with 8 separate companies, we decided AdVal was our best bet. And we were so right! Our work crew was a father/son duo, Anthony and Brandon. They were so easy to work with: quiet; respectful; showed up on time and worked really, really hard all day; cleaned up before leaving each day; easy to talk to; and did just brilliant cabinetry work. I would use the word "meticulous" to describe their skills. Anthony even pulled a rabbit out of his hat and built exactly what I wanted around the hood vent over the cook top: he was able to encase the hood vent with the same white oak we were using in the rest of the kitchen. I had showed him a photo of something like it I found on line and he said, "I can make that". And he did --- it's beautiful and is the crown jewel of our renovated kitchen. There were a couple of other challenges regarding how to do this or that, and Anthony came up with solutions every time. What a talent he is! His son was also extremely careful about, among a bunch of other things, putting all the the drawers together and installing the new face fronts and soft-close hinges. And they did all of this in 6 work days! There was one small issue with our refrigerator leaking water (ice makers are a pain but you gotta love having one), and the other owner, Alan, came right out the same day, figured out what the problem was, drove over to the local hardware store and bought the part, came back to our house and fixed it the same day. That gets a "wow!" Debbie from their main office was very communicative, called back/sent emails when she said she would -- how rare is that these days? Very rare but she was right on top of everything related to our project. We are beyond thrilled with the outcome and know that we made the right choice. There was a MASSIVE bathtub/shower that took up a lot of space and neither of us like baths. So we wanted to remove the tub and install a shower unit. In addition, we really wanted to upgrade the overall look, including fixtures, lighting, john, etc. After getting designs and estimates from several contractors and not feeling terribly satisfied by any of them, we contacted Andy Fernandez at Adval Construction in Martinez. We hit it off right away. Andy understood what we were looking for and what we could get done on our budget. He worked with us every step of the way from the design to completion. He took us to his supplier and showed us the literally hundreds of options out there, and rather than letting us get anxious over the decisions, he was able to use his knowledge in design to guide us to the things he thought we would be most satisfied with. And he wasn't wrong. From Day 1, his crew was prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and informative. Any questions we had were promptly answered by Debbie, who handled scheduling for them. She patiently explained how each step of the remodel would go and answered all our questions. And the crew was really unobtrusive.
